What is Whois Lookup?

“WHOIS” is an online directory service that allows people to look up information about domain names. When you enter a domain into the search bar at https://www.canadaname.ca/domain-names/whois, a request is sent to the public WHOIS database of the domain’s registrar or registry and the stored record is displayed.

Whois Information

• Domain Status (i.e. if a domain is currently available or registered)
• Registrar of Record (Which registrar the domain has been registered through)
• The creation, expiry, and updated dates
• Registrant (To whom the domain is registered)
• Nameservers (Finding the nameservers providing DNS for the domain)
